Dear redeemed,                                                                                                                                                                               (SCROLL DOWN FOR SCHEDULE)

I remember a television commercial that kept repeating the line: “In your world…In your world…In your world.”  What is “your world”?  People often seek to make their “world” what they desire life to be.  And it may often become a fantasy world loaded with escapism—to the degree of not reading newspapers, or watching the news, in an attempt to shut out the evil happening everywhere.  It may be a world of recluse—just staying home and avoiding all that is out there.  It may be lost in fictional books or movies or video games that provide an escape to a pretend place.  One’s world is also a fantasy by attempting to ignore God, His Word, His will, and then the problem of our sin.

Lent is a season in the church year that brings us back to reality.  This earthly life is passing away.  We actually have far bigger concerns than finding work, how to pay bills, how to put food on the table, what color to paint the living room, or where to take the family on vacation this summer.  Life is about God and His Word of LIFE.  The world God created us to have is life with God—in an eternal relationship with Him.  Sin has broken that relationship.  And sin is never just past tense.  Sin is in the present—today—now.  We daily sin much.  We need Jesus.  We need His Word.  We need renewal.  We need repentance.  We need the body of Christ given in death and His shed blood touching our lips.  We need to remember and take hold of the blessings in our Baptism.  We need the cross!  We need the empty tomb!  We need Christ our Savior over and over and over again!

So, come to church!  Come, so that our gracious Lord would put your life back in proper order—to see life as He defines it and shapes it—to find life renewed with God through faith in Jesus Christ.  His Word is here for you.  His Supper is here for you.  Come in faith and see Jesus!

Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, March 5th.  Divine Service is at 7:00PM.  On March 12th, we resume our traditional Wednesday Lenten suppers at 6:00PM.  Lenten Vespers follows at 7:00PM.  Would you join us?

Our Lenten theme is: THE CRUCIFIED KING.

Wanting to proclaim to you life in Christ, the crucified King,

Pastor Kotila
